Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Technician III - Slots is to keep all slot machines and table games equipment in proper working order to minimize down time on the floor and to maximize floor space revenue.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs on the Casino floor and in the slot repair shop.
  • Rectify reel problems and clears coin and bill jams at slot machines and associated slot floor equipment (e.g., kiosks).
  • Relocate and or install equipment, ensuring fully functioning equipment within an acceptable time frame. This includes slot signage and slot furniture.
  • Complete conversions of slot machine models and denomination as well as game and card type conversions for table games equipment.
  • Assist slot personnel with machines when needed.
  • Perform shop repairs on slot machines and table games equipment.
  • Repair and rebuild all mechanical and electronic slot game components.
  • Attend in-house training in troubleshooting, repair of PC boards, progressive units, and test equipment with higher level Technician or Slot machine Vendor as well as table games equipment.
  • Ensure adequate floor coverage in the Slot and Table Games areas at all times. Ongoing development and implementation of Slot and Table Games equipment Maintenance and Repair Processes to ensure all slot and table equipment remains in optimal working condition.
  • Provide hands-on-training on all slot and table games gaming devices and related systems.
  • Interact with Slot Performance Manager regarding day-to-day operation of all slot and table games gaming related equipment.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advise and assist in the training of all Slot Tech II’s, Gaming Floor Techs and Trainees.
  • Completion of all paperwork in accordance with Nevada Gaming Regulations and approved Venetian Resort Hotel Casino standards.
  • Assess, evaluate, and review technical operations for the purposes of organizing the repair or troubleshooting of potential repair, and/or providing direction on work, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Ability to learn new technology through various media and training from new equipment vendors. Read, comprehend, and comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Respond to service calls in a timely manner, ensuring that customer service standards are met.
  • Read and comprehend part and equipment manuals, schematics, and multi meters.
  • Must be willing to attend and successfully complete technical certification and/or training requirements that may arise to further strengthen and enhance the Team Members skills.
  • Technical testing may be required throughout the course of employment to ensure that technical skills are maintained as well as sufficient knowledge of products and equipment deployed to the gaming floor meets department and company expectations.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Slot Management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Gaming Control Board registration, and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 5 years slot technical experience and have completed gaming tech school.
  • 5 years table games technical experience is an advantage.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of electronics and electronic equipment associated with gaming.
  • Working knowledge operating Kobetron units for verifying E-prom signatures and proper troubleshooting steps and repair of player tracking systems.
  • Must have complete knowledge of gaming devices and related systems.
  • Must have working knowledge to make machine changes, updates, and modifications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 30 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
