Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Operator – Surveillance is to operate surveillance equipment within the department and observe, document and report all activities. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Operates surveillance equipment within the Surveillance room.
  • Documents, observes, tapes and reports any violations of state regulations, company policies or departmental procedures.
  • Documents, observes, tapes and reports any illegal activity.
  • Interacts with local, state and federal law enforcement in the investigations of criminal activity which occurs on company property.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Reports any malfunction of the surveillance system.
  • Assess, evaluate and review data for security and/or providing direction on activities, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Work on actual project or service to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to render an opinion or take action based on that information that will impact the department or function.
  • Possess skills to hasten resolution, assess course of action, and implement or take action based upon findings.
  • Direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice, and provide expertise or judgment based on information gathered, studied, analyzed or reviewed.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age, proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in oral and written form.
  • Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a minimum of two years experience in casino surveillance.
  • Must have knowledge of Blackjack, Dice, Roulette, and Baccarat.
  • Strong mathematical skills are a requirement in comprehending the many casino games operating on the property.
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out and implement written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to sit and observe activity utilizing Closed Circuit Television monitors for long periods of time.
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 30 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Must be able to frequently move freely about the office, maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc., withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction.
  • Must be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT, fatigue, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the property
