Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Counter Surveillance Operator is to provide safety and protection for guests, team members, and company property.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and gather information specifically associated with real or potential adversaries who are displaying suspicious or unusual behavior, to include surveillance of the hotel or casino.
  • Operate in plainclothes, covert role to detect suspicious or unusual behavior directed toward guests, team members or property.
  • Respond in a tactical security role during the event of an incident or crisis.
  • Conduct security assessments on key infrastructure assets.
  • Execute emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed.
  • Prepare suspicious activity or security incident reports.
  • Anticipate potential problems and seek ways to prevent disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct from occurring on company premises.
  • Respond to emergency situations as requested and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems and at the same time minimize hotel liability.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Nevada Driver’s License, armed Sheriff’s Card, CCW (Carry Concealed Weapons Permit), Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) Card) and a Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Prior experience in civilian or military law enforcement, casino/hotel security, or industrial security.
  • Must possess the ability to make well thought-out independent decisions that comply with company policies. .
  • Knowledge of general first aid and CPR and working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, able to push and or pull 200 pounds, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
