Position Overview:

The responsibility of the Convention Sales Manager is to identify and qualify leads and contract business opportunities (leads) (1151-800 peak rooms) that align with meeting company’s financial goals, maximize revenues and drive customer loyalty.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Meet and exceed quotas and financial goals set by Management.
    • Effectively solicit and identify and qualify business opportunities (leads) to meet the defined business parameters, resulting in closing contracts through effective contract negotiations that  align with meeting company’s financial objectives, maximize revenues and drives customer loyalty.
    • Develop and maintain account base of business through on-property customer meetings and direct solicitation which maximizes revenue for Company.
    • Qualify and respond timely to incoming assigned leads and follow through on commitments.
    • Partners with customers to understand their buying process, identify key meeting priorities to effectively position and align our unique insights and benefits to customers’ key meeting priorities.
    • Accurately forecasts and reports sales pipeline.
    • Ensures that business is turned over properly and in a timely manner for quality service delivery.
    • Understand the overall market competitors’ strength and weaknesses and how to sell against them.
    • Ability to clearly communicate and articulate ideas externally and internally at the opportunity level that are innovative and supported by reliable data.
    • Regularly and independently engages with cross-functional teammates to understand product and services available to Groups and how the Hotel differentiates itself from the competitive set.
    • Travel on a limited basis and participate in sales calls, site inspections, entertainment, networking events, training (as assigned) midweek, evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Support other members of the Sales Team as needed.
    • Manage effectively within defined sales roles, internal sales processes and departmental/Company Policies and procedures.

 

  • Key Processes
    • Document all pertinent daily Sales activities, cataloging account and client information accurately as defined by department SOP’s.
    • Effectively work within the structure of the defined Sales processes to effectively evaluate and execute sales contracts. 

 

  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience
    • Required; High School Diploma or GED, 2 years professional Hotel Sales experience at a luxury property
    • Preferred
      • 1 year of experience selling large complex group business, either at property or sales office
      • 4 year college degree
      • Knowledge of property operations

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires evenings and weekend travel and networking
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to frequently move freely about the office, maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc.
  • Withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting for long periods and withstand prolonged standing.
