Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Meeting Services Lead Porter is to provide our guest with an unmatched guest experience while performing the duties of this area. These duties include setup, maintenance and cleanliness of all meeting space as pertaining to the Banquet Event Order.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan, the fiscal budget, and the company’s short term and long-term profitability objectives.
  • Oversees the delivery and measurement of guest service consistent with the company’s core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Oversees assigned staff to include diversity commitment; Creates a work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, and mutual respect and Team Member satisfaction.
  • Works directly to maintain the effectiveness and desired workmanship needed for all areas.
  • Must be able to perform all porters’ duties and assist as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute assignments.
  • Must be competent in reading Banquet Event Orders.
  • Assess, evaluate and review data for organizing projects and/or providing direction on activities, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.

  • Work on actual project or service to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to render an opinion or take action based on that information that will impact the department or function.
  • Possess skills to hasten resolution, assess course of action, and implement or take action based upon findings.
  • Direct others in completion of a task or assignment. Render advice, and provide expertise or judgment based on information gathered, studied, analyzed or reviewed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SNHD Health Card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Must have at least nine to twelve months or equivalent job experience in Banquet set up or Meeting/Convention Services.
  • Must be able to read BEO with a clear understanding of both the Conference Manager and our guests and client’s needs.
  • Must have a clear knowledge of all setups (Hollow Square, Banquet Rounds, Conference and Theater Style setups) Must be able to oversee all porters as related to meeting services duties or assignments according to our BEO’s.
  • Must maintain the effectiveness and desired workmanship needed for all set-ups, refreshes, and teardown of all areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 75 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
