Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Junior Engineer is to provide general maintenance property-wide. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with a qualified Engineer in a specialty shop with the purpose of learning aspects of that shop’s trade.
  • Take formal training classes that relate directly to the work performed in the specialty shop that you are currently working.
  • Perform work tasks assigned to you by your assigned qualified Engineer.
  • Assist the Engineering Department by performing tasks for which you have training wherever needed.
  • Assist Engineering Department wherever needed to promote the safety and well being of the guests / Team members and to protect the facility as directed by your supervisor.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Maintain, repair, modify and enhance a product or service or facilities.
  • Organize tasks, projects and/or provide direction on activities, tasks or systems in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Manage or work on actual repair, maintenance or modification of a service or product or facility to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product or service or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Possess skills to engineer, repair, enhance and modify a product or service or system or facility. Take action to put into use the product, service or system.
  • Oversee and direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice and provide expertise or judgment based on the product or service or system or facility being maintained, repaired, modified, developed, studied, analyzed or reviewed.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 6 months in the trade or the Engineering Department.
  • Working knowledge in driving and using hand tools required.
  • Must have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
