Position Overview

The ED – Solutions Engineering is responsible for integrating business and technology solutions to achieve Las Vegas Sands business objectives. Based upon an understanding of business needs, the ED – Solutions Engineering leads a technical team that drives and implements technology solutions that focus on operational efficiency, tooling & automation, and metrics reporting of enterprise level applications. This position is also responsible for the development and maintenance of an enterprise-wide Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform.

 

The ED – Solutions Engineering balances the investment and need for lasting, strategic solutions vs. rapid payback opportunities of a more tactical nature. Responsibilities of the team include understanding detailed technical requirements and reference architectures, complex data analysis and research, providing installation and support documents, test scripts, and reporting solutions as needed, across multiple Las Vegas Sands jurisdictions.

 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Partner with local IT and 3rd party resources to oversee program design and implementation of enterprise level systems, patch management programs, identity governance and administration platforms, report creation and visualization tools
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, application developers, consultants and vendors to analyze business requirements, business specific scenarios, best practices, and then document and define processes that meet the business needs of the enterprise and are aligned and consistent with enterprise IT strategies and plans
  • Join forces with the broader IT security, risk and compliance organization to interpret policies and standards, ensuring policies and standards are properly followed by new and existing solutions
  • Lead automation efforts and provide visibility/accountability on adherence to established standards and KPI’s via metrics reporting
  • Work with business IT owners to gather information needed for business application integration with solutions
  • Participate in developing strategies and Las Vegas Sands’ global master plans and roadmaps
  • Align IT strategy with business goals and work with PMO and IT Operations to develop high-level implementation plans for Programs/Projects
  • Conduct technological monitoring to detect, assess and introduce innovative new technological possibilities, as well as their impacts on Las Vegas Sand’s business and IT operational activities
  • Recommend appropriate courses of action to developers, technicians and management on technical and infrastructural issues in production when required
  • Evaluate the viability of the current IT systems and make pertinent and realistic recommendations for improvement
  • Maximize the reuse of technology assets to ensure investment sustainability
  • Support the planning process by conducting cost analyses (including material, project-related work and recurring work)
  • Act as a technical vendor interface and ensure strategic alignment of selected vendors to the defined solutions introduced are consistent with the master plan and roadmap
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
  • International business travels a minimum of every quarter is required

Technical Requirements
  • ITIL Master Certification (preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) infrastructure roles and architectural best practices
  • Understanding of best practices for automating security patching with maintenance windows with strict timeline requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of the ServiceNow ITSM platform
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with SQL Server, SSIS, SQL Agent, SSMS, Visual Studio, SQL Server Data Tools, SQL Queries including Views, Functions, Stored Procedures and CTEs.   
  • Current knowledge and experience with TIBCO Spotfire, Python, HTML, JavaScript, and R Language.
  • Knowledge of building enterprise grade Dashboards and Visualizations
  • Understanding of various Software Development Lifecycle Methodologies
  • Current knowledge and experience with Shavlik, Ivanti, Parallels, SQL, SSIS, SQL Agent, SSMS, TIBCO Spotfire
  • Knowledge of SQL based report creation through SSRS or alternative reporting suites
  • Extensive technical knowledge of application and network administration and maintenance including a. Active Directory systems b. Cryptography techniques c. Penetration and vulnerability testing at the network, host and application levels d. Enterprise IDS design, implementation, deployment and testing e. Operating system and application hardening
  • Experience with LAN technologies, including multiple network operating systems, topologies and protocols, Metropolitan Area Networks, and Wide Area Networking
  • Experience with Network Management / Administration
  • Knowledge of Internet Information Server (IIS)
  • Knowledge of international data protection laws
  • Knowledge of Information Security regulations such as: PCI
  • Experience with privacy legislation such as HIPAA, GDPR
Minimum Qualifications
  • 21 years of age
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline required
  • Advanced degree in technology or engineering is a plus
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a minimum of 7+ years managing a team within an IT Operations environment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting and allocation, implementation, information security program development, and administration, including technical architecture design, service integration, and technology assessment
  • Understanding of business processes and basic corporate finance, management and accounting principles, and project management methodology
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural, multinational environment and mobilize cross-functional high-performance teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate with executive management and board of directors
  • Ability to lead and manage large-scale projects
  • Demonstrates cross-functional expertise and the ability to thrive in a highly complex environment
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work

  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
