Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Equipment Technician is to repair and maintain equipment related, but not limited to, common area maintenance to meet operational and safety regulations and building codes. With the understanding of the vital importance of fully operational equipment available and functional at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assess, evaluate and review technical operation for the purposes of organizing the repair or troubleshooting of potential repair, and/or providing direction on work, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Assess course of action, hasten resolution, and implement or take action based upon findings.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Render advice, and provide expertise or judgment based on information gathered, studied, analyzed or reviewed. i.e.: equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Perform a diagnostic check within 24 hours for all equipment turned in for repair. Equipment that can be replaced within an 8 hour shift should be completed and returned to the department by end of shift.
  • Daily status reports are required and a repair log should be updated daily. Turn in a daily report to PAD Assistant Director.
  • Every part that is ordered must be communicated to Assistant Director for approval and recorded in the Parts Ordered Log. It is the Technician’s responsibility to follow up on parts order and communicate any challenges or delays.
  • Use of the cart to travel will be limited to transport equipment and parts only. 80% of the shift should be utilized repairing equipment.
  • Keep the Technician’s area clean and orderly. All equipment and tools should be secured before clocking out for the day.
  • Complete a monthly parts inventory each month and turn it in to the Assistant Director.
  • A regularly updated inventory of everything in stock is to be available to the Main PAD office.
  • Communicate clearly with others about the completion of a task or assignment, prioritizing work and requesting required supplies or tools.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • 2 years of directly related training and/or experience is typically required.
  • Knowledge using hand tools, power tools, test lamps, amp meters, voltmeters and other testing device equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex maintenance problems with electrical equipment used in the performance of cleaning duties.
  • Ability and experience to conduct final operational testing and troubleshooting of entire electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and owner’s manuals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assemble, test, and modify existing equipment using schematic drawings or other assembly manuals.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for high and low voltage.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically able to access all areas of the property and drive to all areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
