Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Engineer – Lock Shop is to provide lock services and general maintenance for the property. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Estimate time and materials accurately.
  • Open locks by use of manipulation, tools, dismantling, or other methods
  • Utilize key cutting machines and all common locksmith tools
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to lower level personnel
  • Install/repair/maintain access control and electro-magnetic locking systems
  • Use computer programs for keying and specification writing
  • Maintain and repair safes, including combination changes
  • Properly stamp codes on keys with index
  • Maintain a current MSDS book.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.
  • Maintain, repair, modify and enhance a product or service or facilities.
  • Organize tasks, projects and/or provide direction on activities, tasks or systems in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Manage or work on actual repair, maintenance or modification of a service or product or facility to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product or service or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Possess skills to engineer, repair, enhance and modify a product or service or system or facility.
  • Take action to put into use the product, service or system.
  • Oversee and direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice and provide expertise or judgment based on the product or service or system or facility being maintained, repaired, modified, developed, studied, analyzed or reviewed.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21+ years of age
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 3 years minimum experience in install, repair, and maintenance of all types and grades of commercial hardware. Ability to work well with others, take direction, and be self-motivated.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
