Position Overview:

The role of the Storage Engineer III is to design and manager enterprise storage platforms, storage management tools and to performance-tune storage platforms across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, availability, and security. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all platform hardware, peripherals, operating systems, connectivity and associated software. This individual leads in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure storage provisioning, efficiency, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

The position demands someone who is highly technically competent, detail oriented, and self-motivated to conduct administration and support of storage infrastructure. 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resorts policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives.
    • Design and deploy storage platforms and data management tools to ensure the security, reliability and performance of enterprise data.
    • Troubleshoot, identify and repair complex data and storage system issues while working within internal ticketing/trouble reporting systems
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and implement computer configurations that meet those documented requirements.
    • Conduct research on storage platforms, architecture designs, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the enterprise storage industry.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure security and integrity of the enterprise storage environment.
    • Review technical requirements, establish project milestones and tasks and determine level of effort estimates for their completion.
    • Develop and perform storage security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
    • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to data and storage configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
    • Perform all work in a manner to ensure interoperability and maintain compliance of enterprise storage platforms.

    • Monitor and test storage performance, capacity and prepare and deliver storage performance statistics and reports.
    • Effective collaboration skills to work with network, systems, database, telephony and other technical staff to ensure reliable integration of systems and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
    • Understand and abide by Incident, Problem and Change management processes and procedures.
    • Interact with vendors, peers, and contractors to ensure secure, reliable systems implementations and upgrades are performed within project parameters.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or similar technical program or acceptable industry and work experience.


  • 5+ year’s demonstrable experience in the design, implementation, and support of storage systems, applications, and related technologies.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft server operating systems, Linux platforms, VMware and related technologies.
  • Experiencing developing data recovery procedures and documenting disaster recovery processes.
  • Support experience with high availability solutions such as: clustering, data replication, dynamic resource allocation, and related procedures.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (MICS, PCI, SOX).
  • Training and experience with ITSM practices.


  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills.
  • On-call availability on a rotational basis is a requirement of this role.
  • Flexibly to adapt to a changing environment while under pressure
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be a self-starter that is reliable, punctual, and consistent with excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise with enterprise storage platforms and their implementation and administration in a highly virtualized and converged computing infrastructure.
  • Documented experience with Brocade and Cisco storage networking configuration, security principles, and maintenance best practices.
  • Technical skills implementing and supporting  SAN, ISCSI, FCOE.
  • Expertise with storage performance tuning and configuration including various strategies for optimizing for availability, performance or capacity. 
  • Experience implementing and supporting geo-redundant storage management and data virtualization solutions.
  • Advanced competence with monitoring tools, techniques, alerting and notification processes.
  • Skills and experience with PowerShell and Batch commands.
  • Competence with fault isolation, testing procedures, and data mapping tools.

Technical Certifications

  • Current, relative industry certifications and continuing education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in racks, floors and ceilings.
  • Occasional requirement to work within the environmental conditions of a computer data center and the related noise, temperature and humidity exposures of those environments.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
