Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Engineer – Electronic Shop is to repair, maintain and replace all Audio/Video (A/V) equipment; Fabricate, install and maintain A/V distribution racks, and install and maintain the existing and future 2-way radio infrastructure. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair, modify and enhance a product or service or facilities.
  • Organize tasks, projects and/or provide direction on activities, tasks or systems in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Manage or work on actual repair, maintenance or modification of a service or product or facility to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product or service or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Possess skills to engineer, repair, enhance and modify a product or service or system or facility. Take action to put into use the product, service or system.
  • Oversee and direct others in completion of a task or assignment.
  • Render advice and provide expertise or judgment based on the product or service or system or facility being maintained, repaired, modified, developed, studied, analyzed or reviewed.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of installed A/V equipment.
  • Fabricate and install unique A/V equipment racks for property wide projects.
  • Integration and testing of new meeting rooms and all associated equipment.
  • Extensive working knowledge of A/V systems to include, but not limited to; Peavey, Media Matrix, Crown IQ, Extron video, and Creston/AMX control systems.
  • Be able to work under pressure and provide detailed explanation of discrepancies and corrective actions.
  • Requires knowledge of cable TV infrastructure and associated terminology.
  • Working knowledge of basic RF principles.
  • Willingness to work non-standard shifts and weekends.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Must be able to obtain and a valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • 5 years experience with Convention A/V electronics required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of using hand tools; personal computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Access database; perform mathematical calculations.
  • Previous experience in Fabrication is required.
  • Must take extra precautions to safeguard against electric shock or electrical discharge.
  • Appropriate safety measures must be followed and appropriate safety gear must be worn at all times.
  • Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.

  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
