Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Director – Technology Contracts and Services is responsible for leading a team that creates and implements a comprehensive global supply chain strategy for technology and gaming categories for the company’s corporate and US operations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent people mastery with strong negotiation skills in tactical, strategic, critical and alliance commodities amongst multiple stakeholders envisioning long term financial and service gains by crafting contracts to best control future risk.  Requires little executive assistance.
  • Develops good working relationship with all levels of suppliers; managing high level or senior executives.
  • Conducts business reviews with key suppliers in high level basis on long term partnership, engaging suppliers for Company non-procurement events; has a clear business roadmap to enable close communication with key suppliers to deliver required product roadmap that's beneficial for company long term.
  • Understand supplier's core competencies and looks for other business opportunities.
  • Deals with middle and high level stakeholders and maintain good working relationship with senior executives.
  • Seen as the lead point of contact for Department. 
  • Lead the team to work with suppliers and internal departments to strategically source, negotiate best in class contracts, and achieve the most favorable results for the organization.
  • Meets with stakeholders regularly, understands stakeholders business roadmap, challenges and opportunities. Supports stakeholders in long term strategic planning. 
  • Provides solid and constructive inputs and able to influence and ensure stakeholders comply with company sourcing policies at all times.
  • Performs comprehensive & in-depth evaluations to ensure best-in-class category strategy matches the business roadmap.
  • Able to calculate total cost of ownership / return on investment for category proposal and within every deal.  Ability to guide team analysis for the category and provide all dimensional guidelines to enhance category knowledge. 
  • Conduct meetings with suppliers and stakeholders for long term category strategies’ planning and continuous effort in cost savings.
  • Seeks opportunity to improve category and trades.
  • Creates and amends the sourcing and tendering process. 

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recognizes any weaknesses in the process and implements changes based on policy and organizational needs.
  • Directs the strategy and tactics for major contracting and tender evaluation work ensuring compliance with policy. 
  • Demonstrates strong analysis capability, providing intuitive analysis of a wide range of sources. Intuitively structures data and drills down on findings to provide rich reports which reflect the data requirements of the target audience.
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of various procurement activities to effectively suggest changes to drafted policies.
  • Conveys maturity, confidence, composure and able to effectively communicate in executive level settings.
  • Drives Technology, Gaming, and other related categories for sourcing and contacting.
  • Partner with departments to assist them in defining appropriate service level agreements
  • Manage a purchasing staff; initiates purposeful change; develops and retains smart, talented and diverse people management, purchasing, and procurement.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all department and company policies and procedures and Rules of Conduct and must enforce the same.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Work on actual project or service to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Evaluate information to render an opinion or take action based on that information that will impact the department or function.
  • Focus on achieving the goals or objectives of the department using available resources.
  • Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments, while maintaining service and/or product quality.
  • Interview and make recommendation of candidates for new hire
  • Determine if and/or when policy or procedural infractions by Team Members occur and issue the appropriate level of progressive discipline.
  • Responsible for the timely evaluation of all direct reports and conducting introductory period and annual performance reviews.
  • Maintains an open door policy and addresses all team member issues and/or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all gaming control boards’ rules, regulations and internal controls applicable to the position.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a Business or related field or equivalent experience, with an MBA preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of purchasing or supply chain management with good process management results or strategic global sourcing experience.
  • Must possess superior knowledge in Procurement for a global company, have excellent oral and written communications skills, and exceptional demonstrated negotiation results. 
  • Must have experience in and have previously negotiated and implemented large technology contracts
  • Must have a solid and demonstrated understanding of contract language; both commercial and legal terms
  • Ability to drive selection of suitable suppliers and comprehensive supply base management
  • Ability to execute  supplier follow up including establishment of Service Level Agreements
  • Ability to lead and coach a team of experienced Procurement professionals with complex sourcing, negotiations, and contracting
  • Strong leadership skills to work with various departments to help better define needs and source competitively while adhering to company contracting principles.
  • Ability to handle various and numerous contracts (MSAs, SOWs, software licensing agreements, etc.) with varying degrees of scope
  • Strong sourcing experience in technology and gaming categories.  Examples include Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Audio Visual, eCommerce, Slots, Table Games, etc.
  • Drive contract compliance and work with Legal Department to execute appropriate contacting methodology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.

  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
