Position Overview

The Director – Tax is responsible for tax planning, accounting, preparation of income tax compliance, management of income and indirect tax audits, and providing tax advice to the Las Vegas operations on day to day business issues.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures.  
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct aspects of US tax compliance activities including corporate tax returns, tax withholding, and other local taxes for applicable entities.
  • Provide direction, technical expertise, and coordination on development and implementation of US tax strategies.
  • Provide direction, technical expertise, and coordination in regard to non-income taxes including sales and use tax, information reporting, personal and real property tax, and employment taxes. 
  • Manage US federal and state estimated income tax and extension payments
  • Manage US income tax audits and non-income tax audits
  • Identify changes in the U.S. and local tax regulations to ensure business operations and tax department maintain proper tax compliance.
  • Support business initiatives by evaluating U.S and local tax implications including income tax and indirect taxes by performing tax research and coordinating with external tax advisors and business teams.
  • Review and prepare documentation to support the tax implications for transactions in order to support financial and compliance processes.
  • Manage technical issues in tax returns and ensures work product is adequately documented.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all US Tax Provisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Tax, Finance, or equivalent work experience required. Master of Tax and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years corporate tax experience or BIG 4 accounting firm with minimum of five years of US tax experience.
  • Experience in the gaming industry preferred. 
  • Strong tax technical skills including tax research.
  • Experience preparing tax returns required
  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) readiness essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience. 
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
