Position Overview

The Director, Interior Design will have responsibility for directing and creating the design excellence vision for new build and renovation of LVSC properties worldwide. This position will ensure that the design  sophistication and aesthetic of the global standards in adheres to the brand requirements of the organization. The Director will manage global projects from inception to completion, drive the creative design process resulting in award winning projects.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Key Performance Objectives
    • Work with key executives and cross departmental stakeholders to ensure that brand is consistent and present in all design elements
    • Manage outsourced design efforts, including external firms and internal resources
    • Serve as POC for design function between construction, design, engineering vendors and partners
    • Lead creative design work sessions daily
    • Oversee in-house design projects, including as necessary design and specification of certain projects and plans
    • Direct and manage staff and organize department functions to facilitate design elements in accordance with company guidelines
    • Delegate tasks and department assignments or projects, meeting deadlines related to those assignments
    • Focus on achieving the goals or objectives of the department using available resources (staff and budgetary)
    • Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments, while maintaining service and/or product quality
    • Develop staff skills to enhance department effectiveness and manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures.

    • Communicates, through own behavior, a clear design excellence vision, philosophy, goals and objectives for each project

    • Exercises tasteful and aesthetic sensitivity in all product and service matters.
    • Adapts management and interpersonal approach and shifts roles (as required) to suit the audience and situation
    • Understands the needs of the various stakeholders of the organization, synthesizes and delivers a product that is consistent with market realities
    • Effectively coordinates the design budget to ensure it is complete, accurate, justifiable and accepted with reasonable levels of revision.
    • Manages the worldwide projects based on multiple time zones

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States

  • 15+ years post graduate design experience in a hospitality design firm or similar organization required
  • Business acumen to manage and oversee internal and external projects
  • Mentors team members for positve growth day to day
  • Recent Luxury hotel / casino / resort design experience preferred
  • Experience on ground up hotel, mixed use, high density residential or large scale retail development
  • Strong history of successful high-profile project design oversight in high-end/branded environments
  • Demonstrated track record of managing and coordinating design consultants.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies, ranging from joint venture partners to government agencies
  • Excellent leadership capabilities, charisma, and communication skills to influence, inspire, and motivate key stakeholders and employees around a single vision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with senior management team, while being a self-starter
  • Poise and discipline to know when and how to communicate
  • Strong financial acumen and bottom-line orientation.
  • Interpersonal agility with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, and changeable environment
  • Work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to Travel
  • 21 years of age
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in standard English in written and oral business communications
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 25 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
