Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Director - Enterprise Architecture is responsible for integrating business and technology solutions to achieve Las Vegas Sands business objectives. Based upon an understanding of business needs, the Director - Enterprise Architecture creates the integrated business and technology vision that translates to a multi-year master plan and roadmaps.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop technical strategies at the enterprise level as a result of interactions with Business Relationship Managers, and any stakeholder groups
  • Design architecture according to corporate and solution-based architecture practices
  • Participate in developing strategies and Las Vegas Sands’ global master plans and roadmaps
  • Maintain a balance between strategic visions and tactical solutions in order to formulate the best recommendations in accordance with Las Vegas Sands’ business needs
  • Align IT strategy with Business Goals and work with PMO and IT Operations to develop high-level implementation plans for Programs/Projects
  • Develops and implements innovative and creative solutions to business problems. Encourages and expects others to think "outside the box" and not be limited by existing methods and procedures
  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work
  • Establishes goals, monitors progress toward them, and ultimately achieves these goals
  • Conduct technological monitoring to detect, assess and introduce innovative new technological possibilities, as well as their impacts on Las Vegas Sand’s business and IT operational activities
  • Recommend appropriate courses of action to developers, technicians and management on technical and infrastructural issues in production when required
  • Evaluate the viability of the current IT systems and make pertinent and realistic recommendations for improvement
  • Maximize the reuse of technology assets to ensure investment sustainability
  • Develop mock-up/modeling for technical solution options to support the team to provide profiles for technical solution designs consistent with a defined technical roadmap
  • Support the planning process by conducting cost analyses (including material, project-related work and recurring work)
  • Identify technology standards and guidelines for technology initiatives
  • Work with Compliance staff to identify areas of risk and mitigation plans regarding the master plan and roadmap
  • Act as a technical vendor interface and ensure strategic alignment of selected vendors to the defined solutions introduced are consistent with the master plan and roadmap
  • Act as a critical interface to support solution design, implementation and supports the PMO, operations, development, quality assurance, and vendors in deploying solutions.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting and allocation, implementation, information security program development, and administration, including technical architecture design and technology assessment.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age
  • Proof of authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.  
  • Exceptional analytical, statistical, quantitative, and deduction skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in project management methodology. Understanding of business processes and basic corporate finance, management and accounting principles
  • Deep understanding of hospitality and gaming business processes and industry constraints (e.g., compliance)
  • Knowledge of international data protection laws
  • Experience with Information Security technologies, markets, and vendors (firewall, intrusion detection, assessment tools, encryption, certificate authority, Web, and application development)
  • Knowledge of Information Security regulations such as: PCI, GLBA, SOA, Basel II, Safe Harbor, SB 1386, etc.
  • Experience with privacy legislation such as HIPAA, COPPA, FCRA, GLB and EU
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as: ISO17799, SAS70, COBIT, etc.
  • Ability to apply methodologies: RUP, UML, OOP, Process Flow Diagrams
  • Understanding of OOA/OOD principles, UML modeling techniques and Internet Information Server (IIS)
  • Experience with data architecture in an RDMS, MDDBs environment, service and integration architecture design and deployment and software interaction with databases such as MySQL and Oracle through APIs such as OCI and ODBC
  • Well versed on Progress up to and including V9 and OE10. Level 5 Expertise in 3+ technical solutions (GUI, n-tier, Web, Progress Open Client, or Integration), Level 3-4 on the remaining technical solutions
  • Wide, extensive knowledge of multiple infrastructure/application technologies including (but not limited to): Mainframe (IBM/UNISYS), Open Systems (UNIX/LINUX), Enterprise Databases, Middleware, Web services, Application development platforms, testing tools, HTML, High Availability designs and technologies
  • Knowledge of and ability to use special technologies: SOA, WebServices, ERP (ORACLE and/or SAP), BEA WebLogic Server, IBM WebSphere, eAI, BPM, STRUTS, Rational Suite (RUP/UML), OOAD
  • Extensive technical knowledge of application and network administration and maintenance including: a. Active Directory systems b. Cryptography techniques c. Penetration and vulnerability testing at the network, host and application levels d. Enterprise IDS design, implementation, deployment and testing e. Operating system and application hardening
  • Experience with LAN technologies, including multiple network operating systems (NT, LAN Server), topologies (Token Ring, Ethernet) and protocols (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, OSI Model, SSL, S/MIME, Radius, LDAP, IPSEC, public key, Netbios/Netbeui), Metropolitan Area Networks, and Wide Area Networking
  • Experience with Network Management / Administration
  • Knowledge of and ability to use EJB, Java/J2EE, JDBC, .Net, XML, DTD, XSL, XSLT, parsers, and Web technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
