Position Overview:

The responsibility of the Database Administrator I is to ensure the performance, integrity, security and operation of the database systems that support’s the enterprise application functions.  This role is responsible for the installation and configuration of database servers, data replication, data backup, data recovery, security, and code deployments.  The Database Administrator I will provide support in identifying, communicating and resolving issues in order to maximize the availability and performance of database system.

 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo policies, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database issues pertaining to integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, security, etc.
  • Create and update existing documentation of processes and procedures in support of administration tasks.
  • Review technical requirements for projects and assist in setting milestones and tasks for the project.
  • Follow operating standards and procedures for the access and maintenance of shared data resources
  • Perform all work in a manner to ensure interoperability and maintain compliance of enterprise application and database systems.

Key Processes

 

  • Monitor and test the daily performance of production and development environments.
  • Improve current environments by reviewing processes currently in place; using tools to reorganize or de-fragment database table spaces, tables, and indexes; and provide an efficient database environment.
  • Manage service and incident requests escalated from internal teams in a timely manner.
  • Effective collaboration skills to work with systems, storage, network, telephony and other technical staff to ensure reliable integration of systems and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Collaborate with third party vendors and internal team members to ensure database implementations and updates are performed in a secure manner and follow the company Change Management policies.

 

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

Consistent and regular attendance including on-call availability on a rotational basis, is an essential function of this job

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or similar technical program or acceptable industry and work experience
  • 1+ years SQL Server DBA experience
  • 1+ years design, implementation and administration of SQL Server solutions including version upgrades, migrations, service packs and hot fixes, log management, backup / recovery, log shipping, performance tuning and security management
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (MICS, PCI, SOX)
  • Training and experience with ITSM practices.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage projects
  • Good written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills.
  • On-call availability on a rotational basis is a requirement of this role
  • Flexibly to adapt to a changing environment while under pressure
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be a self-starter that is reliable, punctual, and consistent with excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Competence with monitoring tools, techniques, alerting and notification processes.
  • 21+ years of age
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in oral and written form.
  • Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Technical Certifications

Current, relative industry certifications and continuing education.
