Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Analyst - Data is to perform advanced business analysis of data and processes using various techniques (including process design, data modeling, and mathematic analysis) to determine the proper and accurate methods for projects and business partners to understand and consume our business data from any of our data sources.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for data logistics for business use and project implementation, including how data can be analyzed, how data flows between applications, how data is built into the data warehouse, and how the business can best consume the data.
  • Partner with IT application support teams to understand data elements, and data flows within and between our library of applications across interfaces, ETLs, etc. 
  • Determine best practices and develop actionable insights and recommendations for the current business operations and their issues around data consumption.
  • Work closely with the IT Data teams AND the Business teams to help identify analytical requirements for data-based projects so those meet and exceed business expectations.
  • Work with the data warehouse team to understand any new data elements they have built as part of their implementations.
  • Work with Product Management team and vendors to participate in the solution phase in support of the business requirements across functional areas
  • Maintain clear and accurate data documentation as it pertains to data use in projects.
  • Assist in providing input for the organization's quality, security, and maintenance of data.
  • Assist in developing standards/SOPs for data element use for compliance and business needs as necessary.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously with the ability to deliver aggressive timelines aligned to project deliverables.
  • Work independently with users to define concepts under direction of Project Managers and Product Managers.
  • Continuously build knowledge base of Venetian|Palazzo application suite, especially around the data that is used by these applications.
  • Maintain expertise across several data areas and work effectively with other IT professionals to ensure that the data is stable, accurate, and ready to meet the business needs.
  • Participate as a resource on major projects as requested
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 5 years in Information Technology
  • 3 years demonstrated experience in business analysis from a technical perspective, including the design, code and/or configuration of applications and/or data for projects and for use by the business.
  • Demonstrated experience in gathering business requirements, using business analysis skills, with the ability to forecast implications and provide consultative recommendations and solutions
  • Working knowledge of SQL, as in query design and the use of analytic tools (MS, MySQL, etc).
  • Working knowledge of iSeries/AS 400 applications and OS is preferred.
  • Exposure to ETL logic and design, including use of mathematics and statistics is preferred.
  • Exposure to traditional casino/hotel applications (ACSC, LMS, Kronos, etc) is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
