Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Associate General Counsel – Contracts is to negotiate, draft, review, summarize, research, advise on and approve contracts and other agreements for designated operating departments of the Company and its affiliates using the approved contract management system.  The Associate General Counsel – Contracts will be responsible for a wide variety of agreements, including, but not limited to: non-disclosure agreements, commercial contracts, marketing agreements, entertainment agreements, licensing agreements, real estate leases, confidentiality agreements, service contracts, and other general business contracts, both domestic and international. 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental, LVS, and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Review contracts and commitments assigned to attorney in the Company’s contract management system.
  • Negotiate, draft, advise on and approve agreements and contracts.
  • Ensure that contracts and commitments conform to the Company’s required standards, including anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, related laws and compliance guidelines before approving.
  • Assist operational departments in translating the Company’s objectives in any financial commitment into effective and enforceable contract language.
  • Review all contractual materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues.
  • Manage various projects and deadlines.
  • Research unique legal issues involving the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes and keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the Company and its affiliates.
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
  • Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Provide training to the Company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics.
  • Attend regular attorney meetings.
  • Support committee and company decisions, even if unpopular.


 Key Processes:

  • Draft, review, interpret and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements for Company’s operational departments and affiliates.
  • Analyze and summarize complex documents and provide advice on legal issues, operational and transactional matters. 
  • Prepare legal memoranda and research legal issues.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations.
  • Is continuously aware of current and forecast financial/business performance and is actively involved in analyzing and implementing required changes.
  • Exercises good judgment, taking into account all pertinent information.
  • Can behave decisively and make tough decisions in a pressured, demanding, and often ambiguous environment.

Company Standards of Conduct

All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Juris Doctorate, required
  • Must be admitted to practice in at least one U.S. state and eligible to practice law in-house in Nevada.
  • At least 3-7 years of sophisticated commercial contract experience gained at a top-tier law firm or equivalent experience; in-house experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property and commercial contracting.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of business and the ability to work collaboratively and communicate with the Company’s management team.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Strong financial acumen and bottom-line orientation.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department and Company goals and objectives.

Must be able to:

  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
