Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Pool is to assist the Pool, Food and Beverage Operations Manager in the management of all Venetian Pool decks including food and beverage services.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the implementation of long and short range financial objectives relating to beverage, and PRD sales and rentals set by the Pool Operations Manager.
  • Ensures that the cleanliness of the pool deck is maintained at all times.
  • Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests on all pool decks, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and safety procedures.
  • Assists Pool manager in conducting safety training and ensuring that certification is on-going and current with state law.
  • Assists in the hiring, training, and evaluation of team members to meet departmental standards and goals.
  • Maintain high quality standards in regards to food and beverage presentation, sanitation and pool safety.
  • Assists in managing approximately 110-120 full time seasonal team members: bartenders, cocktail servers, pool attendants, PRD attendants, lifeguards, cabana hosts, liquor runners, bar porters, and PAD specialists.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the assignment and evaluation of work, recommends personnel actions consistent with team member performance.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by management. 
  • Manage staff and organize department functions in accordance with company guidelines. Delegate tasks and department assignments or projects, meeting deadlines related to those assignments. Focus on achieving the goals or objectives of the department using available resources (staff and budgetary). Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments, while maintaining service and/or product quality.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, Food Handler’s card (Health card), Non – Gaming card, Nevada Gaming registration, Red Cross CPR/First Aid and Life guarding certification and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 2 years’ experience in Food and Beverage management required.
  • Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian Resort Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold as well as inclement weather.
  • Must have the ability to carry, pull and maintain lounge chairs as well as other pool deck equipment such as towel bins, weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
