Position Overview:

This position serves as the primary point of contact for Labor budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of performance against labor standards and historical trends for The Venetian | The Palazzo, a property of approximately 8,800 Team Members.  Works directly with Senior Leadership across the property in a collaborative manner to strengthen labor transparency and drive financial results.  Provides insightful analytics to labor trends to ensure property budgetary goals are maintained while considering both Guest service goals and Team Member satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Drive the design of enhanced labor analytics to permit more streamlined and transparent budgeting and forecasting methods.
    • Perform labor studies using statistical and observational data to formulate efficiency standards and optimum scheduling models.
    • Identify trends and developments throughout property and competitive industry to assist in monitoring and improving department staffing schedules.
    • Develop tools and techniques to support volume forecasting, labor planning, and headcount requirements.
    • Partner with the operating departments in the development of their annual labor and benefit budgets and monthly forecasts.
    • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources.  Provide finance approval of both new positions and replacement headcount within budget guidance.  Identify areas where budget improvement may be appropriate or where requests will exceed budget guidance and present recommendations to Sr. VP of Operations or President for review and consideration.
    • Create and maintain effective and insightful labor reports to identify additional opportunities for labor efficiencies.
    • Review and establish variable and fixed labor standards.  Work with the property departments to ensure understanding, acceptance and ownership of labor standards.
    • Serve as the primary knowledge resource for the Virtual Roster scheduling and labor optimization system.  Provide training and support for departmental implementation.
    • Work in partnership with the Corporate Business Intelligence team to enhance capabilities of the Cognos Labor Mart and Cognos TM1 Budget & Forecasting tool.

    • Reviews data and ensures complete and accurate representation of relevant information.
    • Provides data in a format normalized to current operations where possible, or alternatively provides commentary regarding differences due to business changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year institution or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in financial analysis; strong labor experience preferred. Strong preference for prior experience in direct support of Hotel and/or Casino operations.
  • Must possess strong mathematical acumen with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Must have strong PC skills, including advanced knowledge of MS Excel and intermediate level database skills. Prior experience with Cognos TM1 and Virtual Roster software a plus.
  • Must have a strong and developed presentation style and experience managing inter-departmental projects with many stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends as required outside of normal office hours.
