Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Analyst – Surveillance, Card Access will be to produce documentation and reports by accessing information with the Genetec Card Access System and Badge Management System and using software (Cognos, Crystal) to compare information within these two critical security systems.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review reports and information from the Genetec Card Access system that includes team member information, card holder access levels, and credential access levels to determine inappropriate access.
  • Provide reports to VP of Surveillance and Lock Shop preventing security failures within card access. 
  • Design and produce reports utilizing information from Genetec Card Access and information from LVS HR Badge Management System and comparing team members who have current access but are terminated or transferred to another department. 
  • Provide reports on Genetec User Access, Levels of Access and unauthorized door access based on Nevada Gaming Internal Controls and LVS Internal Controls.
  • Interact with various members of the Human Resources, Facilities Lock Shop and Security Teams as well as with system developers.
  • Assess, evaluate and review data for organizing projects and/or providing direction on activities, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments. Work on actual project or service to help achieve the objectives of the department.
  • Conduct/participate in meetings and work closely with Surveillance staff on issues related to Genetec projects, particularly in but not limited to the areas of requirements and documentation
  • Document requirements pertaining to Cyrstal Reports Applications, Cognos reporting and other Cognos Applications
  • Lead/assist the development and maintenance of management-level and technical-level documentation
  • Develop Cognos reports using Analyst and Report Studios and Cognos, Genetec and BMS
  • Work directly on development projects to expand the Cognos footprint and user adoption within the Surveillance Department
  • Operate within and help maintain a formal System Development Life Cycle (relying upon personal knowledge of and prior project experience with such processes)
  • Assist less experienced staff members to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain and improve knowledge of the Cognos & Genetec platform
  • Develop functional knowledge around Surveillance processes at LVS
  • Co-ordinate with and provide mutual support to counterparts in Asia and future areas of operation (occasional travel to Asia and other future areas of operation will be required)
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 2 years of related work experience.
  • Technical Writing experience.
  • Previous experience with Cognos preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
