Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Engineer - IT (QA), is to build test suites that exercise business critical applications and processes.  The role will involve both functional and non-functional testing as well as maintaining documentation libraries.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetisn Resort's policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Business and/or Technical Requirements and define testing scope
  • Report test execution status
  • Lead defect triage with the stakeholders, operations and/or vendors
  • Write/Maintain test cases
  • Estimate testing effort
  • Engage SDLC partners to drive projects to completion
  • Identify efficiency opportunities or operational failures and socialize them with management
  • Adhere to SDLC, and project governance internal and regulatory (Sarbanes Oxley & Casino Regulatory Authority) guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Create and maintain applicable system documentation
  • Mentor other IT Engineers
  • Cross-train and share both business and technology related knowledge with other IT Engineers
  • Work cross-functionally with IT peers and business partners
  • Communicate complex information to a non-technological audience
  • Prioritize work in alignment with the business’s needs
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Information Technology
  • Interpret Business and/or Technical Requirements and define testing scope
  • Report test execution status
  • Lead defect triage with the stakeholders, operations and/or vendors
  • Write/Maintain test cases
  • Estimate testing effort
  • Mentor team members
  • Engage SDLC partners to drive projects to completion
  • Identify efficiency opportunities or operational failures and socialize them with management
  • Working knowledge of key ITIL processes – Continuous Improvement, Change, Incident, Problem, Release, and Service Request Management
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke
